Thoughts about America
Main Course: Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us, he hath smitten, and he will bind us up After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight (Hosea 6:1-3; cf. Acts3:19).
THOUGHTS ABOUT AMERICA I - Where is Saul? Pray for Saul, he’s hiding. The African American community needs a true bonafide speaker and representative to speak on their behalf who God has chosen for this hour. God never leaves any ethnicity of people without hope. If you study God’s ways, you will find that He answers petitions oftentimes beforehand, which means God has already chosen someone for the job. But many times that person has not accepted the position or assignment for whatever reason causing a delay. We see this specifically demonstrated when God chose Saul and Samuel was to anoint him in front of Israel. He went and hid himself to the point where they had to pray for God to reveal where he was hiding (1 Sam. 10:20-24). On a more individual level, sometimes, you think you may have missed God because after you have taken all of the necessary steps to obey Him, things still have not surfaced. And consequently, it takes some prayer-seeking God to reveal where things are hidden that belong to you (cf. Is. 45:3).
While our hearts are calling out and looking for “our voice” (Joe Biden/Kamala is not our voice, neither is Trump/Pence). God has given someone a voice, but they are afraid and won’t speak up or come forth to be the light of hope that we desperately need at this time in the African American community. So our prayer is LORD where is Saul? Where is our mouthpiece whom God has chosen for us? We must pray that God reveals who and where he is since we have done all we can to set the stage for his arrival (i.e. protests, marches, vigils, talk shows, boycotts, rallies, voter registrations campaigns, thinktanks, roundtable discussions, zoom meetings, TED talks, abolished laws/created legislative bills, etc.). This is a note to Christian African Americans (no one can or will represent us except one of us just as Esther represented the Jews). Our other ethnic brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ have shown us (the African American community) that the sacrifice of their comforts and privilege is too great of a price to pay to stand against racial injustice. The majority (not all of them) are not able to adhere to “love your neighbor as yourself” or “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Mk. 12:31; Matt. 7:12). So is this not interesting to note that if they won’t sacrifice themselves for Jesus to follow His commands, then how can we expect them to respond to us?
THOUGHTS ABOUT AMERICA II - A Nation Between - stuck between a rock and a hard place. Damned if we do and damned if we don’t is the general consensus of Americans today. But as born-again believers, we are not left without hope even when we are looking at a Red Sea (Ex.14:13-16). We realize that there is none who can deliver us but God (Ps.20:7). And I can hear the Lord saying, “use your rod, stretch out your rod. I haven’t left you because you are facing an insurmountable problem. I’m the same God during the plagues as I am the problem – any Red Sea. The rod can do the job because I am with you to deliver you. Don’t stand around looking without hope and in despair, stretch out your rod, keep doing, believing, and trusting in me as you have done in the past when plagues surrounded you. Don’t be ruled by your senses or surroundings because my power is greater and has not diminished because of a Red Sea. I am not less powerful in the face of the impossible or uncertainty. So use your rod and go over, cross over to the other side unhindered by circumstances or situations. You have the rod (My Word, your Rhema), and I AM your God. Nothing is too hard for me. Confession with your mouth (create reality externally) and believing in your heart (create reality internally) is the rod that will bring you over into victory, to experience what is already prepared for you (Ps.23:5; Rms. 4:18-21; Mic. 2:13). Stretch it out and keep it out until you have passed totally over because my power has not and will not wane. I am the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Have you confessed? Do you believe it? Then you shall receive.
THOUGHTS ABOUT AMERICA III - Society represents the condition of the Church. From God’s perspective, America looks like Revelation 3:17-18. Society always reflects the condition of the church (Prov. 29:2). When they are in shambles, its because we, as the Body of Christ have not done our part to properly manage and steward the earth. He told us to occupy until he comes, which means we are to hold things together, manage this piece of property called planet “earth” until He returns for us (Lk.19:13). We have not done that and have neglected our duties to mankind. As a result, society has lost its way. We are the only light, salt, and hill city they will ever have without Jesus Christ himself in the flesh. In the book, Addendum to Life (2019), a quote reads "when society has lost the light of its soul, pain, and suffering is their portion." To ourselves-the church seems rich, prosperous, and satisfied but to God, we are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. The church is in an awful state of existence today, but we can rectify our status by buying gold, white raiment, and eyesalve. In this manner, we can see and understand that what’s in His sight is all that matters (cf. Heb. 13:21). Overall, you see there’s no one to blame except the ones left in charge – the Church?
