Country in Crisis? Here’s a no-fuss, no-hassle solution (for BABs only)

Main Course: These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Country in Crisis? Here’s a no-hassle solution: “Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.” These are the words that I hear with my spiritual ears when I think about the current predicament of our country today.

Jesus tells us to be of good cheer, not to worry but be happy, praise God that we don’t have to worry about things, bear the burden of uncertainty, be distressed or discouraged by things we see. He has already overcome the world which means for the believer, (1) Jesus has lived and left a life as an example, which is the life of Christ to follow that demonstrates dominion over all the powers of the enemy. (2) He has defeated the enemy of our soul – fear (Heb. 2:14-15). And (3) we are one in Him because we abide in the vine. Then to top it all off, Jesus said we are going to be fruitful in EVERY season – that’s a promise you have as you abide in Him (Jn. 15:1-5; cf. Song 2:16). Jesus said, I and my father are one. But that does not make us exempt from hard times, for even some seeds go through winter months before sprouting. The focus is on our connection to Jesus and His connection to Father God, which means all things are possible even in difficult times and seemingly impossible situations.

Country in crisis? Household in crisis? Health in crisis? Finances in crisis? Family in crisis? Ministry in crisis? Don’t worry about it. Be of good cheer. Don’t worry BUT INSTEAD praise the Lord. Has your situation become a “care” for you? Cast it on the Lord for he cares for you AND about you (1 Pet. 5:7-8). He only wishes good things for you even in a pandemic (Jerm. 29:11; 3 Jn. 2; Rms. 8:28). God is no less powerful in a pandemic than he is in a perfect situation, but you have to judge him correctly --- faithful who promised (Heb 11:11). And if you haven’t learned to judge him as faithful, the enemy has gained ground in your mind to accuse God as otherwise. Anything outside of God’s faithfulness simply doesn’t exist; it’s not true (2 Cor. 10:4-6). You have to see him as he is – FAITHFUL! (cf. Is. 6:1).

And let’s not forget GREATER is he who is in you --- Christ in you the hope of glory than he who dominates this world of darkness. You may say, how is this relevant to me that Jesus overcame the world? The life of an overcomer is one who BELIEVES that Jesus is the Son of God (1 Jn. 5:4-5; Jn. 7:38). You must believe this truth: You are now in Him as a new person, and if you are in him, you are one with him. As a result, you share that same experience. Since you died in him, was buried with him, raised up, and ascended with him, you have overcome. You are now seated at the right-hand of the Father with Jesus Christ. This is the “truth” you must believe to overcome in this world (live out the experience of true victory) (2 Cor. 2:14).

If you determine to praise the faithfulness of God instead of the faithfulness of your circumstances, God will show himself strong, and he will reward you – exceedingly, abundantly, above all you can ask, think, or imagine (2 Chron. 16:9; Heb. 11:6; Eph. 3:20; cf. Ruth 2:12; Ps. 91:15).
