3 Main Reasons for Unanswered Prayer
Main Course: Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear (Isaiah 65:24).
As I was reminiscing about how many prayers I have prayed some answered, most not, I’ve learned to live on the “some” calling it being grateful; but it is simply unacceptable. While I am grateful, there’s greater and this brings me to the point of Lord, what is wrong? Why are my prayers not being answered, although they are heard?
This answer came as my reply. There are 3 main reasons for unanswered prayer: most pray the wrong way (spirit of error, self-righteousness or pride of life), most have doubt and unbelief in their hearts and most have un-forgiveness (anger, bitterness or resentment) from an offense in their heart (Jam. 4:2-4; Mark 11:23-24-25; Matt. 6:12, 14; 1 Jn. 3:15; 4:19-21; Gen. 4:7).
Ouch!! The truth hurts, but it can heal us too (2 Chron. 7:14; Hos. 4:6; Heb. 4:12). The problem never lies with God for He is perfect, but we need His Light to shine on our hearts to show us the crooked and rough places to make them straight and smooth (Is. 45:2; 40:4). Are you tired of unanswered prayers? Let’s go on a quest to clear the channel of our hearts so we can receive Isaiah 65:24.
Now these are just 3 of the major reasons why most don’t receive answered prayer; however there are others like disobedience, rebellion and fear of the past, etc. The previous ones mentioned are in the top 3 which are major strongholds that hinder us from receiving God’s best (1 Cor. 1:20; Jn. 10:10; Eph. 3:20).
Remember: your mind is the powerhouse (Josh. 1:7-9; Rms. 12:2); your heart is the clearinghouse (Prov.4:23; Matt. 5:8; and your spirit is God’s house (Rms. 8:14-17).
I personally was given Ps. 51; 139 and Matt. 6:9-14 to start the washing process of my heart daily so my answers would not be hindered (cf. Jn. 15:3; 1 Jn. 1:7).
