Beyond our control, but in charge of our hearts - Part I

Main Course: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.…(Proverbs 3:5-6)

As we look as the devastation of the floods today in Houston, TX we pray for those who have suffered tragedy and loss and that their hearts will be comforted by the Holy Spirit. We pray for their strength, guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit for full restoration of everything lost and more. For myself and for anyone who has suffered loss (i.e. divorce, death, health, extended joblessness, etc.), we know that the traumatic effects can cause injuries and even some fatalities when the storms of life come. Coming to grips with that reality - that some things are just beyond our control can be humbling and leave us feeling helpless. But God is there to lead and guide us through it every step of the way. He orders our steps, he orders our path right into a better place for us (Ps. 16:11). And just because we suffer at the hands of nature or circumstances that we cannot control does not discredit or devalue his ability to restore all that has been lost. cont'd...
