Simple Sense (Wisdom 101)

Main Course: [5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

When faced with a decision to make, it has already been made. All we have to do is ask for the will of God to be revealed. That is why we pray about everything and worry about nothing because through prayer, praise and thanksgiving, His will is revealed (Philip. 4:6-7). His decision about us and our lives becomes clear. Then all we have to do is agree/follow through, do what we've seen the Father do and say (Jn 5:19, 30; 12:49). That's why Jesus stayed in constant prayer and fellowship with the Father to find out what decisions had already been made - God's Will for His life. Then he could properly or perfectly carry out the mission. He totally leaned on the LORD and not His own understanding (cf. Jn 8:28).

Have you realized yet that the hardest part has already been done for you? We have the easy part, especially with the indwelling of God's Spirit to just find out what His Will is for any given situation (cf. Matt. 6:33). And we find it in prayer, praise and thanksgiving. This is a simple instruction so if we get connected and stay connected/consistent, it will bring forth the results we are looking for because God doesn't lie. He is faithful (cf. Heb. 11:6). Remove the distractions, stay committed, and focused on the prize (your answer), which can only come from God (cf. Gen. 41:16).

BONUS:

You see, all our choices have already been made for us through predestination. You may say, well what about all the choices I've made before this enlightenment or new path that I'm following now? Well, there's a contingency plan/fund already in place for people who make mistakes, fail, miss the mark and those who walk blindly through life. That plan can be found here in Romans 8:28.

You may also say, well if our choices were already made for us through predestination, then why do we have free choice, a free will? You have a free will to decide or agree with what has already been done. Your job is just to find out what it is (which can take a lifetime and is revealed to us through different stages and phases).

Most likely, if you have the love of Jesus Christ in your heart, you will decide to follow and obey Him. However, tests and trials of life come to further solidify and authenticate that love for Jesus, which Paul describes as being "rooted and grounded in love." Who's love? God's unconditional love that can carry us through any test, trial, persecution, circumstance, situation, predicament, challenge, or difficulty.

Now this is where many of us falter in our flesh: we tend to complicate the instructions or we do nothing. We just totally avoid or ignore simple direction because in our mind, there's no value attached to it. We think it is worthless or useless and these types of responses sometimes stem from triggers of past failures or disappointments. Hence, the critical and vital need to renew our mind on a daily basis (it's like the air we breathe). We will know when we have matured in Christ when our answer and lifestyle is like Joseph and Jesus, dependent upon the Father for everything (cf. Rms. 7:18; Mk. 10:18).
