2018  - A Year of Newness

Main Course: Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." So the place has been called Gilgal* to this day (Joshua 5:9).

This year will be a year of newness, but not without circumcision - embracing the fullness of the crucified life (Philip 3:10), being planted by the rivers (Ps. 1:3), being rooted and grounded in His love (Eph. 3:17), abiding in Him (Jn. 15:1-5). There will be a rolling away for if your flesh stays out of the way, you will be able to produce and be fruitful (Eph. 3:20, Ezk. 47:12; cf. 2 Pet. 1:9), but if your flesh interferes (inter-fears, inner fears, the fears), it will revoke my promises for your life.

Your heart must be circumcised which means dedicated to the Lord, set aside for his purpose and use; for as your heart is so is your life (Prov. 4:23). Therefore, a new level of holiness and sanctification is required to move forward and experience victory. It is starting over, hitting the reset button, and operating from the default setting: for me to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philip. 1:21).

The new life will come forth as a shining, blazing light as the stones are rolled away. New life = child-like faith which has the power to roll the stones away, do the impossible. This resurrection power will reside with child-like faith, and although it may seem weak and helpless, it is indeed the strongest and well favored, My desire (cf. 3 Jn. 2; Ps. 45:10-11).

There will be newness, but the road to experience it will be Gilgal, the place of circumcision; and through My power, the stones (reproach) will be rolled away (Josh 5:2-9; Is. 62:3-4; Zech. 4:6-7). For if you will allow me to cut, you will conquer. You are the arrow of the Lord's deliverance (2 Kin 13:17; cf. Is. 49:1-3; Col. 1:27).

NOTES:

*Gilgal = a circle of standing stones; a circle, a wheel; place of circumcision.

Although it may seem like you are going around in circles and His will can be painful at times, God is faithful and He surrounds us with his everlasting love.

8 = Jewish boys were circumcised 8 days after birth. Sym. of newness, new things (Is. 42:9; 43:18-19), renewal of covenant, embrace the mind of Christ, true humility (Josh 1:7-9; cf. Song 8:5) so he can parade and promote you above your enemies (Ps. 23:5; 2 Chron. 16:9).
